WHAT IS THE EAST END CHAPTER OF LIBI?
The East End Chapter of the Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI) is an organization within LIBI of firms located and working within the five eastern towns of Long Island, Riverhead, Southampton, East Hampton, Southold and Shelter Island. LIBI, since 1941 has provided a membership service and representation to builders and firms providing products and services to builders in both Nassau and Suffolk counties. LIBI, a 650 member organization, with headquarters in Islandia, is affiliated with the New York State Builders Association (NYSBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

WHO ARE ITS EAST END CHAPTER MEMBERS?
More than sixty local firms comprise the membership of the East End Chapter. These members are builders of new homes, renovators of existing homes, and firms specializing in supplying building materials, subcontracting with builders in specific trades, or providing a wide range of professional services to builders.

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
The East End Chapter provides membership services to the building industry, in order to improve the professionalism, efficiency and profitability of east end firms in the building
industry, while providing a voice for all members in support of its principles.

WHO DO WE INTEND TO BENEFIT?
The East Chapter will benefit all firms in the building business on the east end, through provision of membership services; their customers, through enhanced professionalism and customer relations, and the public through advocacy of public policy that provides residents with for the sensible growth needs of communities for local residents.

WHAT ARE OUR PRINCIPLES?

We stand for:

• Helping east end families achieve the American Dream of a home of their own which the can afford and upgrade to meet their family needs;
• Improving the professionalism and image of east end builders and their associates, through education and public relations.
• Protecting the east end building industry and its customers from excessive regulation by government at all levels, which increase costs to homebuyers and owners without significant public benefits;
• Improving the quality of life and protection of the environment on the east end, consistent with private property rights established in the State and U.S. Constitutions.
• Always working with our customers in accordance with a Code of Ethics.

WHAT IS OUR CODE OF ETHICS?
Members shall constantly seek to provide better values, so that an ever-greater share of our people may enjoy the benefit of home ownership.

Members shall strive to develop the efficiency of the building industry.

Members shall act at all times to contribute their knowledge in building to the best interests of those they serve.

Members shall not obtain any business by means of fraudulent statements or by use of implications unwarranted by use of implications unwarranted by fact or reasonable probability.

Members shall comply both in spirit and letter with rules and regulations prescribed by law and government agencies for the health, safety and progress of the community.

Members shall be alert to examine proposed or enacted national, state and local legislation detrimental to social, economic, and political progress.

Members shall not perform, or cause to be performed, any act which would tend to reflect on, or bring into disrepute, any part of the building.

A VISION
In the near future, if our Chapter is successful we would anticipate an East End that has a more modern, professional building industry, which is seen by local residents as a necessary and vibrant part of the local economy, operating under zoning and planning rules which provide the industry with adequate land resources to meet the needs of a growing year round population.
